Advertising Policy

Overview
KickoffHQ sells a small number of exclusive, fixed-term display placements directly to local businesses, at a flat contracted fee. Advertisers write their own headline, call to action, and destination link through their advertiser dashboard. This policy sets out what that content and link must satisfy, and how it's reviewed, before it appears on the site.
Ad Copy Standards
Every advertiser-authored field — headline, call to action, and any A/B test variants — is automatically checked for profanity, slurs, hate speech, and sexual content before it can be saved, including common evasions (letter-spacing, symbol substitution, and similar tricks). Content that fails this check is rejected immediately and cannot be submitted.
Destination Link Requirements
Every ad's click-through link is checked before it can be saved. A link must:
- Use HTTPS, and resolve to a public web address (no IP addresses, no localhost).
- Point to the advertiser's own verified business website, or to an approved platform (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, WhatsApp, or Google Maps/Business) — nothing else is accepted.
- Not use a link shortener (bit.ly, tinyurl, and similar) — the real destination must be visible.
- Not point at a tracking or tag endpoint, or carry tracking parameters.
This means an ad can only ever route a visitor to the advertiser's own verified business or a known, legitimate platform — it cannot be used to send visitors to an arbitrary or disguised destination.
Prohibited Content
In addition to the automated checks above, we do not accept ads promoting:
- Gambling, betting, or games of chance
- Adult content or services
- Cryptocurrency, investment schemes, or financial products promising guaranteed returns
- Weapons, ammunition, or explosives
- Tobacco, vaping, or recreational drugs
- Counterfeit goods, or content that infringes another party's intellectual property
- Misleading, deceptive, or unsubstantiated claims
- Any unlawful product, service, or activity
Review Process
Passing the automated checks above is not the final step. Every new or edited ad is held for manual review before it goes live — a person checks the creative and destination against this policy before the placement is approved and published. We may reject or remove any ad, at any time, that we determine violates this policy, even if it previously passed review.
